Succession planning in the organization may begin with role mapping and training programs — but for individuals, it starts long before that.
It starts when you:
- Share context, not just instructions
- Explain why something matters, not just how to do it
- Let people try things their way — and make room for failure as a learning path
It starts when you invest in people, not just tasks.
True succession planning isn’t about finding a “carbon copy” of yourself — it’s about helping someone grow into a version of themselves that’s ready to carry the torch, in their own way.
🧠 Reflection:
If you’re waiting until the job posting goes up to think about succession, you’re already late.
The real work starts in the day-to-day, where growth is modeled, not mandated.
