Succession planning in the organization may begin with role mapping and training programs — but for individuals, it starts long before that.

It starts when you:

  • Share context, not just instructions
  • Explain why something matters, not just how to do it
  • Let people try things their way — and make room for failure as a learning path

It starts when you invest in people, not just tasks.

True succession planning isn’t about finding a “carbon copy” of yourself — it’s about helping someone grow into a version of themselves that’s ready to carry the torch, in their own way.


🧠 Reflection:
If you’re waiting until the job posting goes up to think about succession, you’re already late.
The real work starts in the day-to-day, where growth is modeled, not mandated.
